dc.description.abstractThe study looked at the influence of instructional management functions on teachers' performance in secondary schools of Sironko town council. The specific objectives that guided the study were; to determine the influence of planning on teachers' performance in secondary schools; to determine the influence of organizing on teachers' performance in secondary school and to examine the influence of controlling on teachers' performance in secondary schools, Sironko town council. The study was basically based on cross sectional survey that employed quantitative method. The total number of population under study was 139. 103 questionnaires were administered to the respondents but 77 questionnaires were returned hence considered for data presentation and analysis with response rate of 74.8%. The sampling techniques were simple random sampling and census inquiry. Data was collected through questionnaires which were based on three likert scale of 1 for Disagree, 2 for Undecided and 3 for Agree. The data collected was analyzed using frequencies and percentages (univariate statistics), Pearson correlation co-efficient (bivariate statistics) and regression analysis. The study found a positive and significant influence of planning on teachers’ performance (sig 0.000); findings showed organizing and teachers’ performance were statistically and significantly related (Sig=0.000); and that there was a significant influence of controlling and teachers’ performance (Sig=0.002). In conclusion, there was a statistical significant influence between planning and teachers’ performance; organizing and teachers’ performance were statistically and significantly related, there was also a statistical significant of controlling and teachers’ performance in secondary schools, Sironko town council. Researcher recommended that; teachers should ensure that, they adequately plan for lessons if they are to improve on their performance. They should also ensure adequate arrangements and management of instructional materials and learners for better learning outcomes, Teachers should effectively regulate and monitor learners’ activities as well as transforming them from passive observers to active learners for the achievement of desired educational goals.en_US
